In case you're wondering...

...still no baby.

No contractions.

No signs of progressive anything.

In case you were wondering.

No baby yet

I've realized I've entered the "waiting around" stage of pregnancy. In my head, this means life goes on like normal, however mentally all I'm doing is waiting for baby. Chores - well, I get them done...ish, but it's not like my normal everyday focus. I find myself trying to come up with things to do just to make the days go by. I've treated myself to a fun drink and french fries two days in a row. I never ever do that normally. I even share the french fries with Eden, something else I NEVER do (not because I don't want to share, but because I don't want her addicted to french fries). So anywho, that's what life is like for us right now. Waiting around. Buying things at Walmart I probably don't need.
Here's our life in photos lately:

It must feel great sticking your head in a mesh container. This is not the first time Eden has done this.

On a random productive note, I did make my friend this gathered carseat canopy. I'm halfway through making one for Baby 2. Note to self: I should probably finish that thing soon.

Bubble blowing is an almost daily ritual.

Look at my poor baby's knees. She is the queen at skinning her knees. Literally, she will fall several times in one day and reskin them over and over. Bandaids have become our new magic healing best friends.

My dad came to visit a week ago. We hung out and did nothing. It. Was. Great.

And sorry, Dad, but I'm totally going to out you as the Bubble Master.

We used Eden's pool (bought at Target last season for $3.74! I heart Target clearance!) for the first time this season on Tuesday because it was 90 degrees. Eden decided the best thing about her pool was the ability to drink from it - complete with sunscreen residue, grass, bubble solution, and dog slobber. Yum.

Don't you love discovering a new use for something? Case in point: a manual air pump - not just for inserting into pool valves, but also for inserting in your nose!

Or your mouth:

And five minutes can't go by without some dog love:

So there you have it. That's our life. Happy and happily mundane.

Time flies...but no baby 2 yet

Hello everyone,

Where did March go? How is it that almost 30 days have passed without a single posting on my part? I blame pregnancy-related lack of motivation. To do anything. Like clean. Or change out of my pajamas. I think my toddler has stolen my energy. She certainly has had enough energy to do things like throw crayons and Q-tips e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. I don't even have the motivation to say no. How sad is that. Oh well. I'm choosing to view crayons and Q-tips around the house as domestic confetti. How's that for a positive spin on things?

So anyway, the weather here has been beautiful. I accept the 80-degree weather now because it is officially spring. I'm no longer poo-pooing on the weather. So we've been spending lots of time outside waddling around the newly redone yard (courtesy of Kevin) and our neighborhood. Apparently I have not uploaded the outside photos I've taken recently, but here are some other ones.

I put together a shelving unit for Eden's closet and she decided -- mid assembly -- that it would be a great place to sit and relax. With a blanket.

Eden finally likes the swing. Only for about 10 seconds, but still. Better than nothing.

I believe if Eden could stay in one place for most of her day, this would be it: tangled in blankets with Sparty and Ruby nearby.

Stylish, no?

And a little book time with Mommy. Unfortunately lap space is a little limited, but that'll go away soon (hopefully).

And that's it. Please send me "go-into-labor-vibes." I'm tired of bending over my belly to do dishes, cook, and wash clothes. Although it does provide a great seat on which Eden rests when I'm holding her.

Rough start

Yesterday morning at 6:45 I woke to a chirping. A very loud, intermittent chirping. Not the natural kind. The kind coming from a sick battery of smoke detector. From the first beep I knew: there was no way I was going to sleep through this beeping. And of course we do not keep 9V batteries on hand (we do now). On the unit it says to "Press here to silence." Thinking "Okay, I'll buy batteries later today. Right now I'll silence this thing so I can go back to sleep." So remove the dead battery and press the button I do. And BEEEEEP goes ALL the detectors in our house. A few deaf seconds later, I put the dying battery back in the unit and it quiets itself back to its previous chirping. So I begrudgingly trudged to Walmart before 7am and before Kevin or Eden were awake to buy 9V batteries. To try to turn the day around, I decided to stop for donuts at the good donut place in Millbrook. By the time I got home, I'm feeling better. I have my 8 extra 9V batteries on hand now for early morning sudden chirping occasions. I asked Kevin why the thing didn't stop chirping after I took the battery out. He said the detectors are hard-wired to the electrical system in the house and the batteries are just back-ups in case of power outages. Ah. Now I know.

Moral of the story: some donuts and a surplus of extra batteries can really make a difference in a good day and a bad one.
