We're back!

Happy Summer, everyone!

We had a fantastic time at the beach. The biggest thing that happened over that time is that before the beach, Eden was taking a few steps every few days and by the time we returned she is now walking all over creation. She is a living testimony of the notion that before they walk, all you want them to do is start walking, and after they start walking, all you want them to do is sit down and be still. She doesn't sit still at all anymore. Even to eat. She'd rather be hungry than stop exploring and playing. She's also testing out how effective tantrums and yelling are. I'm trying really hard to make sure she knows they are not effective, but man, sometimes all I want to do is laugh and kiss on her when she's yelling and shaking her little fists because I've taken something away from her. Is that normal? It makes me laugh so hard. I try not to know, because I don't want her to try to make me laugh by screaming. Ah, the joys of parenting.
Here are some photos from our trip:

Funny story: One morning my mom was watching Eden while I was asleep. (Kevin was back in AL working at this point.) All of sudden I hear "Close the drawer, Muffin! Close the drawer!" I got out of bed real quick because something in my mom's voice made me concerned. I went out in the hall and discovered that Eden had closed the door to the bathroom and opened a drawer in the vanity and locked herself in the bathroom and Mom couldn't get her out. Then Eden started crying and Mom thought she had hurt herself or something. Eden had discovered the bottom drawer in the bathroom at the beach house had fun toys like Tylenol bottles and cold medicine. Luckily we got the drawer closed and the door opened pretty quickly, but Eden had discovered how to open the child proof pill bottles. Talk about giving us a heart attack. Good gracious. Luckily everything worked out fine and Eden was okay. But I took this picture only about 10 minutes later (apparently the adults did not learn from their lesson the first time). After that, we kept the hallway blocked so she couldn't go back into the bathroom.

And on the way home, we stopped at our favorite store. Can you guess where we are?

So that's our trip. Nothing special happened. We just had a really nice time. It's nice to be back home now, though.

One of my favorite sayings is: You spend the first two years teaching your kids how to walk and talk and the rest of their lives telling them to sit down and shut up!
