Catch up

So I've been at the beach with my mom for the past week, and it was so great. Not having a house to clean - well, that I'm primarily responsible for cleaning anyway - or a family expecting a dinner every day or errands to run was great. I love been semi-responsibility-free for a little while. Plus we ended the beach trip with a visit to Ikea. It was the cherry on my vacation sundae.

Eden loved the beach. She ate sand - voluntarily. She warmed up to the water on the second to last day and then decided that she just couldn't go deep enough. If I had let her, she would have walked right in and just kept on walking until the water was deeper than she was.

Winnie can officially roll over and scoot around. 10 weeks old and moving around already. She giggled for the first time yesterday as I was making fart noises at her. This child is so related to me.

I haven't downloaded the beach photos yet, but I will soon. Instead here are some others that I meant to post a few weeks ago. Oh, well. Better late than never.

Baby bassinet - not just for babies. For curious toddlers, too!

One of my new favorite photos. A summer classic.

Favorite photo number one:
Daddy and Winnie2

And number two:
Daddy and Winnie

I may blow the last two up and frame them somewhere in my house. I'm in love with them.

And finally, a general question for the moms of two or more out there: is it just me or do you end up taking less photos of your second (and presumably third and so on...) child than the first? I feel like I keep taking some many Eden but I never have as many of Winnie. Does this mean I secretly like my second child less or something? No, no, no, certainly not. But still. I feel like one day Winnie will look back at the photos I've taken and say, "Mom, why are there 8,000 of Eden and 3 of me?" It's funny because I feel like I'm enjoying Winnie a lot more as a baby than I did with Eden because I'm not constantly worrying about accidentally killing her, so I should be taking more photos, but I'm not. Hm. I guess I'll just chalk it up to extreme fatigue.

What can Eden do?

This.

DSC_0023

Lord help me.

**Update: to clarify: Eden does sleep in a twin bed. She just happened to figure out that she can crawl INTO the crib (don't most kids want to climb OUT??) and then crawl up onto the dresser. Joy.

More photos!

Here are the rest of the photos I promised to show you:

Eden's birthday this year was very low key (same as last year). We wrapped up some books and puzzles and put them on her new table (that was really a Christmas present from Toto and Grandpa).

Her favorite present was actually a Christmas present from Kevin's parents: a stuffed Thomas  pillow pet. She loves him to death.
DSC_0281

Here was her birthday "cake" - we did the blowing out of the candle the day after her birthday because we ran out of time on her actual birthday.
DSC_0311

Winnie, clearly, did not enjoy the festivities as much as Eden did.

Sequence of events for eating birthday day from Eden's perspective:
YAY I GET TO EAT CAKE!!
DSC_0332

Mom is taking too long with the camera, so I'll just help myself.
DSC_0333

What is this thing? I can't eat this.
DSC_0334

Ahh, icing bliss. Must eat as much as possible in one bite.
DSC_0336

Okay, now I'll try to blow out the candle.
DSC_0337

Success!
DSC_0340

Okay, back to the important part: icing.
DSC_0342

Back to Mommy's perspective: she learned a new skill: "yicking" (i.e. licking) the candle.

And now onto non-birthday related items:
This is the fallout after a stint in time-out. Can you see the drool, tears, and snot?

Enjoying her table:

Taking a break from blueberry picking when my dad and Kathy and her two girls came to visit (don't you love how Alyssa is sitting in Eden's car seat and Eden is standing next to her?)

Boy, I wish I could sleep anywhere like this

The joys of playing in the sprinkler

And finally, Eden's favorite thing: bubbles.

Get ready...

...for photo overload!

Eden has learned to walk Ruby. Sometimes it's the other way around.
DSC_0007

Sleeping Winnie. My favorite.
DSC_0024

Stretchy stretchy.
DSC_0058

Mid-sneeze. I love it.
DSC_0069

Does the baby fit in the doll stroller? Yes. Sort of.
DSC_0079

Baby's first blow-dry.

Daddy thrill ride.
DSC_0131

What's better than baby wrinkles?
DSC_0196

I love this shot. Winnie's so animated in it.
DSC_0205

Crazy bath hair.
DSC_0209

I promise I did not pose this photo. Eden found my "boobie" (that's what she calls my bra) and put it on herself.
DSC_0213

Chillin' with Dad.
DSC_0220

I love this photo, too.
